Sherco TVS end stage two on high, Santosh struggles

The Indo-French team Sherco TVS riders made merry in the second stage of the Dakar rally while lone Indian rider CS Santosh had a mixed day after a bad prologue stage.

Australian Toby Price led the bikes category at the end of Monday's run after Sunday's first stage was cancelled due to bad weather.

The route from Villa Carlos Paz to Termas de Rio Hondo for the second stage was shortened to 354km from 450km.

Sherco TVS' rider Alain Duclos enjoyed the day's proceeding finishing fourth overall after starting 20th.

The French rider was up to seventh by the end of second way point and ran as high as second in the fourth point before finishing fourth.

His teammate Juan Pedrero ended 10th overall after starting 25th making 11 places at the end of first way point. The Spanish rider was classified ninth in the stage running as high as eighth by the fourth point.

French rider Florent Vayssade finished 27th overall as he started 35th in the second stage on his RTR 450 bike.

Mixed day for Santosh

After starting from a lowly 128th, Indian Santosh on his Suzuki finished 97th overall. He was classified as 91st in the second stage.

The Bangalorean made a superb start to run 64th at the end of the first way point but lost chunks of positions to drop to 85th by sixth point.

Eventually, he finished the stage at 91st by the ninth and last way point. Later, Santosh revealed that he has been struggling with reliability and top speed and lost time due to repairs on the way.
