With 120 km/h through a river!
Today’s stage nivigated the guys to the top! Not only acoording the height of the stage, which went to 3100 meters, but also the rankings of today!
Erik Wevers ended in the 10th place, Bernhard ten Brinke became 13th and Gert Huzink 15th. That’s something to be proud of!
The men were more than thrilled when we talked to them after the finish. “It is magnificent, the route was not really heavy, but somewhat spicy, not comparable to the dunes where we yesterday came through. Today the route was narrow with many rocks. Also we had to drive by a river with a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. You must imagine: a river full of huge boulders which partly you can and cannot see, then you must rely on your navigator flawlessly. And thta’s something the guys do. Nothing but praise for Lurquin Fabian (the Belgian navigator of Erik), Matthieu Baumel (the French navigator of Bernhard) and Eugenié Decré (the French/Swiss navigatrice of Gert). Also the mechanics we must not forget, they are equally important for us. They ensure that all cars easily appear at the start every morning. ”
That the team itself is very close testifies the fact that they do everything, what they can do together.
They have breakfast together and dine together. The drivers, the mechanics, navigators, team manager, press team and the chiropractor.
What they eat? The breakfast consists of sandwiches, scrambled eggs or spagetti. The dinner consists often of soup (kind of pea soup) with a large piece of meat and vegetables. Also there is always enough pasta.
The drivers and navigators take special vitamin in food during the race. If they finish they get directly a vitamineshake. Then it’s time for some relaxation on the bivouac and the muscles are massaged by our chiropractor Patrice.
Do you have questions to the team? You can ask them! If you response this post I will ask them to the team.
