Stage 9
Friday 10 January 2003

Liaison 6 km - Special 567 km - Liaison 12 km - Total 585 km

O9:34 - A transition special with a first easy half. Hard soil on the first 300kms. The landscape then becomes mountainous while entering the vulcanic mountains of Al Haruj. The competitors will find a number of little tracks with changes in direction every 300 metres. Very few details to find the good path. The pilots will have to be extremely careful and go by the road-book. The landscape changes completely from red and yellow to black rocks with volcanoes. The side of these mountains will be very tough on tyres and suspensions.
