The Repsol KTM will be operated on his injuries in the right wrist by Dr. Mir next week
After five days in hospital at the USP Institut Universitari Dexeus, Jordi Viladoms was discharged yesterday and was able to get back home to recover from the injuries of the crash he suffered during the seventh stage between Zouérat and Atar. The Repsol rider had an operation for his fracture in the left elbow on Tuesday noon, a delicate fracture given the fact that it happened in a joint. There is no need for surgery in his right ankle but he is waiting for the return of Dr. Mir from Dakar to have the fracture in the right wrist scaffoid operated by him. Dr. Mir will be back from the Senegalese capital next week, since he is going to be busy with humanitarian issues of the Solidarity Dakar Foundation until then.
The instructions are now to be very patient and invest all the necessary time for the perfect recovery all his injuries. The doctors do not want to talk about times yet, because there is one operation still ahead and the intention is to observe the evolution during the next few days before starting to think about getting back on the bike.
"I feel better every day. I feel braver, I get up and I'm able to get off the bed. I'm recovering from the whole bruise, the trip, the surgery and now I feel a bit better. The elbow surgery was two days ago and it's hurting less. Moreover, I'm happy because I can go back home, and it will be much easier for me having the family close, as well as for them, because they will be able to take care of me personally. Now I'll have to wait for Dr. Mir's return next week to have the right scaffoid operated on."
