PARTS CANADA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP SET TO MAKE ITS ONLY TORONTO-AREA STOP AT MOSPORT
(BOWMANVILLE, ON -- July 4, 2007) Canada's premier motorcycle championships will visit Mosport's road course for two exciting points races in the only Toronto-area stop of the series in the Parts Canada Superbike Championship Doubleheader Weekend, July 13, 14 & 15.
The weekend feature is the Parts Canada Superbike Championship which features many of Canada's top riders including six-time champion Steve Crevier, defending champion Jordan Szoke and title contenders Clint McBain and Kevin Lacombe. Two-time champion Pascal Picotte suffered injuries in Calgary and his status for Mosport will be determined during race week. Championship races are set for Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15.
The big twin cylinder motorcycles of the Canadian Thunder class, like BMW and Ducati, will compete in two championship races of their own, on Saturday July 14 and Sunday July 15. Two-time defending series champion Darren James and 2007 Mont Tremblant winner Michael Taylor lead a highly competitive field into Mosport.
The weekend's schedule includes races in the International Motorcycle SUPERSHOW Amateur 600 Sport Bike Championship, the Suzuki SV650 Cup and the Pro Honda Oils Women's Cup Challenge.
The weekend also features great off-track attractions such as the new BMW Motorrad Summer Fest, which will be loaded with sights and sounds to give fans a real motorcycle enthusiast experience. Among the attractions is a full display of 2007 BMW Motorcycles with opportunities for on and off-road test rides, demonstrations of motorcycle mastery by the 2007 Freestyle World Champion Christian Pfeiffer, and a live concert on Saturday, July 14 featuring Canadian rock icon Edwin, formerly of the band "I Mother Earth". Additional bands, to be announced, will fill a full-day concert series.
For youngsters looking to learn how to ride in a safe and fun way, The Yamaha Riding Academy (YRA) will be on hand with a free riding clinic for kids aged 6 to 12. The YRA will teach participants the basic skills of off-road riding with a safe and fun approach to give kids the most positive experience out of each ride. Top manufacturers such as Suzuki will also have their latest models available for demonstration rides.
A three-day SuperTicket is just $50 until July 11 ($60 at the Gate) and each ticket includes parking, paddock admission, and entrance to Saturday Night Stock Car racing at Mosport Speedway. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by a paid adult admission. Single day tickets are also available.
General and family camping areas are available, with full-service washrooms, showers and children's playgrounds. An advanced three-day weekend general camping pass is just $30 (for tents or pop-up trailers). RVs are $50 for the weekend.
For those looking to have a real Mosport VIP experience, tickets to the Grand Prix Club are also available for $85. The Grand Prix Club includes a three-day admission and Sunday VIP Hospitality which features a fully catered lunch and beverages, and is located trackside overlooking the start/finish straight and corner one.
