WOMEN'S AUXILIARY OF MOTORSPORTS TO COLLECT DVDs FOR TROOPS AT DAYTONA
CONCORD, N.C. (February 7, 2007) -- The Women's Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. (WAM) is pleased to announce that it will expand it's Operation DVD program to Daytona International Speedway during Speedweeks 2007.
WAM will collect DVDs for US Troops daily beginning Thursday, February 15 through Sunday, February 18. A drop box for DVD's will be located at the WAM Trackside display located in front of DAYTONA USA at the speedway.
"We are excited to extend our Operation DVD collection to our trackside program", stated Gaye Joy, WAM's President. "We want to encourage the thousands of fans attending events at Daytona to stop by and help support our troops. Many ask how they can help and this is an easy and economical way to show your support."
WAM announced it's involvement with the Operation DVD program in July of 2006. DVDs can be new or gently used and all types of films are welcome with the exception of adult films. Some good examples include motivational, inspirational and especially films that inspire a sense of family and moral values. "Children Titles" donated will be distributed to Servicemen's families (Stateside) through the Family Readiness Group of the National Guard with the assistance of AMVETS. Music CDs are also appreciated.
The goal is to collect a minimum of 1,000,000 new and used DVDs. Once the DVDs are received overseas, at least 250 films will be in rotation at each base in Iraq and Afghanistan. With a constant rotation of soldiers and new films being donated, it will be almost impossible to run out of films.
Fans can also donate DVDs by sending them to: WAM, Inc., 41 Odell School Rd., Ste. K, Concord, NC 28027. WAM will then send the DVDs to the central Operation DVD collection site in Ohio.
