11th Annual Fun at Fastimes Feb. 17 in Indianapolis Benefits USAC Benebolent Foundation
The 11th Annual "Fun at Fastimes" three-hour karting endurance race is scheduled Feb. 17 in Indianapolis and has become one of wintertime's most anticipated events in the racing capital.
Led by the returning championship team of Tony Stewart Racing, featuring co-captains Levi Jones and Tracy Hines, ten teams of drivers will compete on the exciting two-level course for prizes and awards, with the proceeds going to the United States Auto Club's Benevolent Foundation, benefiting needy racers.
Each team consists of 10 members, with minimum entry fees of $80 ($640 for a team entry). Teams will be captained by USAC race drivers and the green flag is expected to fly at 1 pm. Registration is held from 11:30-12:30 and the mandatory drivers meeting (in racing suits) is slated at 12:45.
Fun at Fastimes is located on the southeast corner of 96th Street and North Keystone Avenue, one block north of the North Keystone exit from Interstate 465, next to the Woodland Bowl.
Fastimes will furnish uniforms and helmets to anyone who does not have either.
During USAC's 51 years of existence, its benevolent fund has served the needs of many needy participants with grants totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Championship team members will receive medals and team photos will be taken prior to the racing.
Team captains have been named and are as follows: Johnny Parsons and Dane Carter (Team #1), Tony Elliott and Billy Wease (#2), Ted Hines and T.J. Stapp (#3), Kris Deckard and Tim Creech (#4), Justin Marvel and Dave Darland (#5), Dickie Gaines and John Heydenreich (#6), Stephanie Mockler and Shane Hollingsworth (#7), Kent Christian and Billy Puterbaugh (#8), Levi Jones and Tracy Hines (#9) and Brian Gerster and Cole Carter (#10).
Persons wishing to participate in this event can receive information by contacting Bill Marvel at (606) 787-0243 or Theresa at USAC at (317) 247-5151.
