$486,000 In Grants To Be Distributed Among 115 Children's Groups

FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 22, 2005) - Area children's organizations will receive a record $486,000 in grants Friday evening from Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter during the annual awards ceremony held in downtown Fort Worth's Sundance Square.

The award amount eclipses last year's record of $475,000 given to Fort Worth-Dallas area children's groups.

The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. with music by the Tim Ishii Sax Quartet with checks presented to the organizations beginning at 5:20 p.m. The ceremony will be held in front of the Fort Worth holiday tree located on Main Street between Third and Fourth Streets in Sundance Square.

A total of 115 children's groups from Tarrant, Dallas, Denton and Collin counties will benefit from the largest distribution of grants since the local chapter was formed in 1997. A total of $3.2 million has been presented to children's groups since the inception of the Texas Speedway Children's Charities chapter.

"The Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter has continued to work on behalf of thousands of deserving children throughout the area," Speedway Children's Charities Director Brittnee Henry said. "Children's organizations throughout the Metroplex will be able to offer assistance in 2006 due to the generosity of race fans and donors from across the country."
