SPEEDWAY CHILDREN'S CHARITY STARTS RPM WEEK-TEXAS WITH GALA

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Sept. 6, 2001) - Wheel-to-wheel Indy Car racing*..hard-charging NASCAR trucks*.sprint cars kicking up dirt*and a motorcycle daredevil. RPM Week-Texas is just ahead at Texas Motor Speedway. Revving up the weekends activities will be the annual Speedway Children's Charities Gala on Wednesday night, Sept. 12, at The Speedway Club.

"We have a great program lineup for our gala this year," Speedway Children's Charities director Alicia Jenkins said. "We are very fortunate to have some great drivers for the auction and a fantastic dinner planned."

Fans will have a chance to ride in a parade lap with an Indy Racing Northern Light Series driver prior to the Chevy 500 on Sunday, Sept. 16 by bidding in the driver auction. Indy Racing champion Sam Hornish, Jr., along with Greg Ray, Sarah Fisher, Al Unser, Jr., and Scott Sharp will participate in the gala auction.

KXAS-TV sports director Scott Murrary will be master of ceremony for an evening that includes cocktails (6:30 p.m.), silent auction, and exquisite dinner (8:00 p.m.).

Speedway Children's Charities is a non-profit organization that distributes funds to local qualified charities benefiting children. All proceeds are used to directly effect children and their needs. For more information on the Speedway Children's Charities Gala, call (817) 215-8564.
