Ride With SPEED World Challenge Stars, Benefit Lighthouse Family Retreat
OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (Aug. 31, 2004) -- On Sunday, Sept. 26, following the Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta, Chili Pepper Racing is hosting a motorcycle charity ride through northern Georgia. Fans can ride alongside SCCA SPEED World Challenge drivers, including SPEED Touring Car Champion Bill Auberlen, Five-Time Le Mans winner Derek Bell, Five-Time SPEED World Challenge Champion Michael Galati, multi-race winner Stu Hayner, Former Rookie of the Year Matt Plumb, Defending SPEED GT Champion Randy Pobst, event organizer Jim Osborn and local rookie Seth Thomas. "2 Wheel Tuesday" host Greg White is also expected to attend. The ride will begin by taking a lap around Road Atlanta, then on through the twisties of northern Georgia. Lunch will be served at a motorcycle resort in northern Georgia, and the ride will end at the Lighthouse Family Retreat headquarters.
Lighthouse Family Retreats mission is "to serve children with cancer and their families at a seaside retreat and help them to laugh, restore family relationships, and find hope in God." Pediatric oncology nurse Melinda Mayton recognized the devastation cancer brought to the entire family and had a vision to start Lighthouse Family Retreat. With hard work, Melinda has had an average of eight retreats per year for the past five years.
"We are excited to be associated with this group," Chili Pepper Racing driver and team owner Osborn said. "Hosting Lighthouse at the Petit Le Mans last year was great. The smiles on the children's faces were priceless. They absolutely loved the rumbling sound of the race cars. We are looking forward to working with them again next year."
To join the event, contact Laurel Osborn at email@example.com or by phone at (865)558-8909. The $150.00(per person) donation to the Lighthouse Family Retreat is tax deductible and includes registration fee, T-shirt and lunch.
