CENTENNIAL, Colo. (February 7, 2002)-- The We Make A Difference Foundation has been renewed as an official SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge charity for the 2002 season.
Established in 2000, the We Make A Difference Foundation's major goals are to raise the quality of life for chronically ill or disabled children, raise the quality of life of children through educational activities and provide opportunities to help children raise their self esteem.
"We are proud to be a continued supporter of the We Make A Difference Foundation," said Mitch Wright, Speed World Challenge Vice President & General Manager. "The children we can help today can be the racers of tomorrow."
With the continued support of the Speed World Challenge, Foundation founder Gary Christopher says to look for greater accomplishments this season.
"We're excited to have the Speed World Challenge Championships on board with the We Make A Difference Foundation," said Christopher. "We have accomplished so many great things in the past two years through the generosity of World Challenge drivers and owners like Scott Bove, Phil McClure, Mike Galati, Shauna Marinus, Neal Sapp and a host of other drivers and crews. We have donated over $175,000 is cash, gifts and service to children's programs.
"The Foundation will expand its goals for 2002 as requested by President Bush that Americans all join the Freedom Core. We will do this by assisting sponsors and teams in their charity efforts. The foundation will also host a silent auction, scholarship programs, karting events and other activities on and off the track in 2002."
The SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge begins its 13th season March 15 at Sebring International Raceway as part of the Mobil1 12 Hours of Sebring Weekend.
