Concord, N.C. (July 2, 2010) - Richard Petty Motorsports driver Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 Stanley Ford team will be racing towards Victory Lane next week with an extra million dollars on the line. Longtime RPM sponsor Stanley has guaranteed a $1 million donation to Children's Miracle Network as part of the "Racing for a Miracle" program should Sadler win the 267-lap NASCAR Sprint Cup Series night race at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday, July 10.
The "Racing for a Miracle" program created by Stanley, the Ace Hardware Foundation and Children's Miracle Network, is a multi-faceted program that benefits sick and injured children by raising funds for the hospitals that provide their care. Stanley has already made a $100,000 donation to the program.
"Stanley has not only been a great supporter of myself and Richard Petty Motorsports over the years but they take pride in giving back to the community around them," said Sadler. "Their involvement with Children's Miracle Network and the "Racing for a Miracle" program are just one example of many."
On Wednesday, July 7 Sadler, along with RPM teammate Kasey Kahne, will visit Chicago's Children's Memorial Hospital, one of Children's Miracle Network's 170 children's hospitals. While at the hospital the drivers will visit with patients and their family members. After the hospital visit, Sadler and Kahne will be joined in nearby Julia Porter Park by the No. 19 Stanley Ford pit crew members for pit stop demonstrations, R/C races and other fun activities.
"I'm proud to be a part of the Stanley Racing family and look forward to going with Elliott to Children's Memorial Hospital," said Kahne. "I always enjoy a chance to have fun and put a smile on kids' faces, especially when it's in support of such an important organization like Children's Miracle Network."
On Friday, July 9, Sadler and representatives from Stanley will present the donation to the Ace Hardware Foundation and Children's Miracle Network in the media center at Chicagoland Speedway. Following the check presentation, the driver of the No. 19 Stanley Ford will unveil a special paint scheme for the Saturday night race with the assistance of four Children's Miracle Network current and former hospital patients who have their names featured on the car.
