Clawson, Mich., RECARO North America has joined DaimlerChrysler to become the official competition seat of the 2000 Neon Charity Challenge series. All 25 of the, new for 2000, Neon ACR Charity Challenge racers will be fitted with a RECARO SRD seat.
RECARO has deep roots throughout Europe and North America in racing. This reputation carries over to its original equipment seats utilizing the engineering lessons learned in competition to offer the best possible seating products for original equipment use.
"We are excited to become a part of the Neon Charity Challenge series," said John Marcozzi, President and COO of RECARO North America. "The series offers RECARO exposure to race fans, racers and the corporate officials and celebrities who compete in the two weekend series."
The RECARO SRD is a true driver's seat. In close proximity to a racing shell, the SRD will offer improved lateral and shoulder support to help provide maximum feedback for the driver of the new Neon ACR racers. The seats are complete with openings for a five-point racing harness, providing a true racing look and feel.
"The addition of the RECARO seats to the Neon racers is another step-up for our program," said John Fernandez, Director of Specialty Vehicle Development, DaimlerChrysler. "The seat offers the same level of overall racing performance experienced by the many racers currently campaigning Neons on the SCCA Showroom Stock circuits across the country. We are glad that RECARO has chosen to come aboard as the Official Seat supplier of the Neon Charity Challenge."
"We are not forgetting about the 6,000+ weekend Neon racers. We have instituted a discount program for those involved in racing the Neon on track or in the various solo events held throughout the country. In addition, we will provide discounts on product and a $1,000.00 cash prize to the Neon National Champion in both the B and C Classes at the end of the 2000 season," continued Marcozzi.
