Rally of the Tall Pines brings out a pair of cars for a good cause!
Scarborough, ON. July 26, 2006 -- This past weekend representatives of Tall Pines attended the University of Toronto (Scarborough Campus) Charity Car Meet 2006. On display were the Tall Pines sponsored Subaru WRX of Alan Ryall and Frank Sprongl's Suzuki sponsored Four Star Motorsports Swift+.
Event organizer, Lelan Leontowich, was thrilled that Tall Pines came out to this event. In addition to the two cars, Swift+ Co-driver Dan Sprongl was in attendance to answer several questions about rallying and how to prep a car for competition.
The event kicked off shortly before noon and for awhile attendance was brisk, with the 2 rally cars garnering as much, if not more attention that the 150+ street/show cars in attendance. Unfortunately dark clouds moved in during the afternoon and a steady rain quickly cooled things off. While several attendees left early, visitors still came over to the rally cars and continued to ask questions about them. It also helped that we had the largest tent at the show! In spite of the weather over $1,000 was raised for UNICEF. Tall pines donated a 2006 VIP Pass that was raffled off to one lucky winner.
The individual fortunate enough to win this $135 pass will get to experience the Rally of the Tall Pines in the best possible way. Highlights of the VIP Pass include, transportation to and from our various spectator areas, access to our heated VIP tent, complementary lunch, snacks and refreshments throughout the day, Tall Pines clothing, a Special Stage (SS) road tour, admission to the Post Rally Party and much more. Is there any wonder why the VIP passes sell out every year? To be first in line and purchase your VIP package for this year, log on to www.tallpinesrally.com
Be sure to visit our website for pictures of the Charity Car Meet as well as an exclusive interview with Four Star Motorsports' Dan Sprongl. Sprongl offers insight on how their Canadian Championship is going and when we might see him back in the co-driver's seat, following their big off at the Susquehannock Trail rally in Pennsylvania back in June. This will be just one of a series of articles and interviews that will appear exclusively on the Official Tall Pines web site in the next couple of months leading up to this year's Rally of the Tall Pines on November 24 & 25 in Bancroft, Ontario.
This past weekend also saw members of the Tall Pines crew attending Round 5 of the Rally America National Rally Championship, Maine Forest. During the event, long time competitor and supporter of the Tall Pines, Andrew Comrie-Picard of Musketeer Racing, qualified to compete in the upcoming X-Games which will be held in California (http://www.xgamesrally.com) Our promotional postcards, intended to attract spectators as well as competitors to Tall Pines, were handed out all weekend.
The Rally of the Tall Pines is sanctioned by the Canadian Association of Rallysport and RallySport Ontario. Our sponsors include L. Hansen's Forwarding, CP Rail, the Town of Bancroft, Four Star Motorsports, Skid School Kincardine, Ontario Tourism, Bancroft Rental, Wayne's World Polaris, Tim Horton's Bancroft, Silverline Helicopters, StaggeredTime Solutions and the Maple Leaf Rally Club.
