Olympic Auto Parts of Virginia and DC Region Team to Fight MS

June 25, 2001: For the second consecutive year, Olympic Auto Parts of Virginia (www.forparts.com) and the Washington DC Region of the Sports Car Club of America (www.wdcr-scca.org) will raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research at the Olympic Auto Parts 600 to Benefit Multiple Sclerosis. The Annual Labor Day Classic, one of the largest amateur sports car races the Northeast, will benefit two chapters of the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (www.nmss.org): Laps to Conquer MS and the National Capitol Chapter of the MS Society. The 2000 Olympic Auto Parts 600 to Benefit Multiple Sclerosis raised more than $12,000 for MS research. "We are very proud to join the fight against MS and think that the 2001 event will raise even more," said Don Caldwell, Regional Executive.

The 2001 Olympic Auto Parts 600 will be held at Summit Point Raceway. As in most years, the event will host the final two rounds of the Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Series Championship. The event typically draws over 300 competitors to the challenging two-mile race track and the Region is bracing for as many as 400 for this year's event. Practice and qualifying are held Saturday and a full card of racing is scheduled for Sunday and Monday.

The event is open to spectators and a portion of the gate proceeds will be donated. Fund raising activities include pledges for race laps completed, a charity auction on Saturday evening and parade laps during Sunday's and Monday's lunch breaks.

For information on how to participate or support the event, call 1-800-TRY4SCCA.
