"Race Fans for a Cure®" visits Nashville Superspeedway April 11-12; Tennessee fans can help in the fight against breast cancer.
(DEARBORN, Mich., April 4, 2003) -- Race Fans for a Cure® will continue its contributions to the fight against breast cancer next weekend when it visits Nashville Superspeedway.
Race Fans for a Cure® -- a charitable initiative started in 2000 and comprised of Ford Credit, Dale and Kelley Jarrett, and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation -- has distributed tens of thousands of informational shower cards and has raised more than $270,000, often a dollar at a time, for the Komen Foundation, and will be at Nashville Superspeedway from 12-7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12.
The display trailer and show car, the Race Fans for a Cure® edition of the No. 88 NASCAR Winston Cup Taurus that was unveiled during last year's check presentation to the Komen Foundation, will be on Expo Row prior to the ARCA PFG Lester 150 on Friday and NASCAR Busch Grand National Series Pepsi 300 on Saturday. All proceeds go directly to the Komen Foundation.
The display will offer information about the Komen Foundation and its mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment, and is equipped to accept donations from fans.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1982 on a promise made between two sisters -- Nancy Goodman Brinker and her dying sister, Susan Goodman Komen. More than 20 years later the Komen Foundation is a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of breast cancer research grants, meritorious awards and educational, scientific and community outreach programs around the world. Together with its Affiliate Network, corporate partners and generous donors, the Komen Foundation has raised nearly $600 million for the fight against breast cancer.
