BOBBY RAHAL FOUNDATION AND RAHAL LETTERMAN RACING HOLDING FUNDRAISING RAFFLE AT MID-OHIO TO BENEFIT NATIONWIDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
HILLIARD, Ohio (July 17, 2008) -- The Bobby Rahal Foundation, which has raised millions of dollars over the years for a number of worthwhile causes, will be holding a fundraising raffle at this week's IndyCar Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course -- with all proceeds going to Nationwide Children's Hospital of Columbus, Ohio.
The Bobby Rahal Foundation and the Rahal Letterman Racing team will be raffling off some very rare racing memorabilia throughout this weekend's Honda Indy 200 Presented by Westfield Insurance. Some of the items up for raffle include autographed pieces such as a firesuit from Bobby Rahal, another from IndyCar Series champion Tony Kanaan, autographed items from Rahal, David Letterman, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Buddy Rice and Danica Patrick, and other materials such as die-cast cars, signed hats and hero cards from IndyCar teams such as Vision Racing, and Marlboro Team Penske. The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course has donated a pair of season passes for the 2009 racing season and the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix has donated a pair of grandstand tickets for either Saturday or Sunday for this year's event August 29-31.
"The Bobby Rahal Foundation has always been involved with children's charities because we thought that it would have the greatest impact on them, their lives and the community," Rahal said. "Our family has always been a great supporter of Nationwide Children's Hospital and the work they do there, and anything we can do by using our motorsports platform to help is very rewarding for us."
The raffle will take place at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend, with raffle tickets being sold at a stand in the midway area of the track for $10 each. The charity event will begin Friday morning and continue through the race, with the winners to be notified on Monday morning July 21.
"We are grateful of the support from Rahal Letterman Racing," said Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation Assistant Director of Annual Giving Matthew Levering. "Their support will help us provide the highest quality pediatric care, preventive education and research for all of the children of Central Ohio and beyond."
The Honda Indy 200 Presented by Westfield Insurance gets underway tomorrow for the IndyCar Series, with Friday practice sessions at 10:40 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. Qualifying takes place Saturday with the 85-lap race starting at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Rahal Letterman Racing and driver Ryan Hunter-Reay (#17 Ethanol Dallara/Honda/Firestone) will be looking for their second consecutive top-10 finish at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
