(November 1, 2001 - Wilmington, NC) NASCAR Winston Cup driver Jeff Gordon will be racing today in the Jeff Gordon Go-Kart Challenge to raise money for The Jeff Gordon Foundation and The Hendrick Marrow Program.

The Jeff Gordon Go-Kart Challenge will be held at the go-kart track located at Jungle Rapids in Wilmington, North Carolina. Local Wilmington businesses will have the opportunity to test their racing skills against the three-time NASCAR Winston Cup Champion. "It's exciting for me to come to Wilmington and have some fun racing go-karts - and - to raise money for children and families in need through support of The Jeff Gordon Foundation and The Hendrick Marrow Program."

The Jeff Gordon Foundation was established in December, 1999 by Jeff and Brooke Gordon. The Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Marrow Foundation, Riley Hospital for Children and The Hendrick Marrow Program.

The focus of The Hendrick Marrow Program is to educate the public about the need for marrow donors, to raise funds for tissue-typing costs at drives across the United States, and to help pay for food and housing costs for patients undergoing marrow transplants.

Joining Jeff Gordon at the Go-Kart Challenge will be three-time NASCAR Champion Darrell Waltrip - serving as emcee of the event. In addition, Hendrick Motorsports will be well represented by Rick and John Hendrick who will be eager to challenge Gordon with their racing expertise on the track.
