Race Fans Bid For A Ride With Their Favorite Indy Drivers

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (May 24, 2001) - Race fans will get a chance to ride with one of their favorite Indy Racing Northern Light Series drivers through the Speedway Children's Charities (SCC) Auction. Fans with the winning bids will ride with their driver as part of pre-race introductions for the June 9 Casino Magic 500.

SCC will hold the event on June 8 at 7:00 p.m., one hour prior to the O'Reilly 400, presented by Valvoline DuraBlend, at the base of the flag stand on the start-finish line. The auction is open to fans in attendance and all are encouraged to come and place their bids for the ride of a lifetime with their favorite driver.

"Riding with an Indy driver in the parade lap is a chance of a lifetime," said Alicia Jenkins, director of the Texas chapter of SCC. "We will be auctioning five of the hottest Indy drivers, including local hero Greg Ray and fan favorite Sarah Fisher. The SCC Auction is a great event for both the charity and the race fans."

Proceeds from the driver auction will go to SCC.

SCC is a non-profit organization that raises and distributes funds to qualified charities that specifically address the needs of children. Since its inception in 1997, the Texas chapter has distributed over $1,060,000 to numerous children's charities throughout North Texas.
