Biggest single-day blood drive in state to be held at MIS.
BROOKLYN, Mich.-- While race tickets at Michigan International Speedway remain the hottest tickets around, one of the biggest events at MIS won't have anything to do with cars on the track.
MIS and the Great Lakes Region of the American Red Cross will host the biggest single-day blood drive ever in the state of Michigan on the one-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and by offering a unique package to blood donors, they expect the reserved donation times to be filled quickly.
The inaugural Spirit of America 400 will take place at historic MIS from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2002. The blood drive intends to collect 400 units of blood for Michigan's sick and injured men, women and children with donations by appointment only.
"We're proud to make this unique facility available for a major undertaking such as the Spirit of America 400," said MIS Guest Services Manager Tim Booth."We encourage anyone who wishes to be a part of something special by helping others in need to register for this event today."
Blood donors on Sept. 11 will be offered hospitality and special activities at MIS, which may include:
Ø Commemorative event credential and ticket
Ø Event shirt, hat and pin
Ø Track tour
Ø Hospitality by Americrown Service Corp.
Ø Sundae from the Country Fresh Dairy Sundae Station
Ø Gifts from Flagstar Bank, Coleman Outdoor Products and the Indy Racing League
Ø Victory Lane photograph
"We're incredibly excited about teaming up with MIS to save the lives of thousands of people," said Fred Sterns, executive director of Red Cross' Great Lakes Region.
