Ford Credit donates another $5,000 to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; Dale Jarrett finishes third at Dover

(DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 24, 2002) - Dale Jarrett's third-place finish in the MBNA All-American Heroes 400 at Dover International Speedway on Sunday results in another $5,000 donation from Ford Credit to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to help in its mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.

Ford Credit, associate sponsor of the No. 88 UPS Ford Taurus, now has donated $627,500 to the Komen Foundation based on Jarrett's on-track performance and end-of-season bonuses since 1998 - including $42,500 this year.

Ford Credit gives the Komen Foundation $10,000 for each of Jarrett's victories, $7,500 for each second-place finish, $5,000 for each third-place finish and $5,000 for each pole position won (as fastest qualifier).

Additionally, Race Fans for a Cure®, designed to increase awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection, will be at the Midwest Thunderfest at The Woodlands in Kansas City, Kan., from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, and at Kansas Speedway from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29.

The display booth will offer information about the Komen Foundation and its mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment, and is equipped to accept donations from fans. Since 2000, Race Fans for a Cure® has distributed tens of thousands of shower cars to race fans and raised more than $200,000, often a dollar at a time, for the Komen Foundation.
