Ford Credit Fan Challenge results in substantial donation to Komen Foundation.

(Dearborn, Mich., Oct. 10, 2003) - Dale Jarrett's performance in the Banquet 400 at Kansas Speedway last Sunday resulted in a donation of $26,300 from Ford Credit to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as part of the Ford Credit Fan Challenge. Additionally, race fans, through two Ford Credit-sponsored initiatives, donated $15,416.

In July, Ford Credit pledged to donate $100 in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month for every lap that Jarrett competed in the 267-lap event around the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway. In addition, Ford Credit challenged fans to collectively match that amount by making donations at www.racefansforacure.com. By participating with a minimum lump-sum donation of $10, fans received souvenirs and were entered to win a trip for two to the Ford Championship Weekend in Miami, Nov. 14-16, 2003. Fans donated an additional $7,416 as part of Fan Challenge. Jarrett completed 263 laps.

The Race Fans for a Cure® trailer, which was onsite at Kansas Speedway for the race weekend, collected an additional $8,000 in donations from fans over the course of the weekend.

Combined, the programs added $41,716 to the running total that Race Fans for a Cure® has raised year to date.  Prior to the Kansas weekend, that total was $105,409.69.

"We are proud and very honored to be affiliated with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation," said Denise Orcher, Ford Credit Brand Manager. "To spread the life-saving message of early detection and being able to provide ways for race fans to help in the fight against breast cancer is something that we take very seriously, and we are extremely thankful to the fans for their continued support and generosity."

Earlier this year, Ford Credit's charitable initiatives surpassed $1 million in donations raised for the Komen Foundation since 1998. Ford Credit is now a member of the Komen Million Dollar Council.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1982 on a promise made between two sisters - Nancy Goodman Brinker and her dying sister Susan Goodman Komen. More than 20 years later the Komen Foundation is a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative breast cancer research grants, meritorious awards and educational, scientific and community outreach programs around the world. Together with its Affiliate Network, corporate partners and generous donors, the Komen Foundation has raised nearly $600 million in the fight against breast cancer.
