Dunlop 24H of Dubai teams drive to fight cancer

GENNEP (January 4th, 2011) Only a little bit more than one week to go before the sixth running of the Dunlop 24H of Dubai, the first major international endurance race for GTs, touring cars and 24H specials gets underway at the Dubai Autodrome. Most of the containers with cars and equipment have arrived in Dubai and the organisers from Dutch agency CREVENTIC and DNRT are about to leave for Dubai to welcome all the competitors, team members and guests for the event (January 13th-15th). This year's race is a special one, because during the Dunlop 24H of Dubai, money will be raised for the Dutch Cancer Society.

All teams that have registered to participate in the Dunlop 24H of Dubai have been asked to make a donation with a minimum of one Euro per lap completed in the race. All proceedings will go directly to the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF Kanker Bestrijding), the organisation that funds cancer research, provides education and training, disseminates information, helps cancer patients themselves and supports patients' associations. The mission statement of the Dutch Cancer Society is to reduce the incidence of cancer, to improve the chances of curing the disease and to create a better quality of life for cancer patients and their loved ones. "As members of the worldwide motor racing fraternity, we are in a privileged position", says Gerrie Willems on behalf of CREVENTIC. "We are involved in the sport that we love and often we can travel to nice places to race. But we also care for those who are less privileged than we are, for instance those suffering from cancer. This is why we strongly support the work of the Dutch Cancer Society. Teams who have signed up to participate in the charity programme will get a special sticker on their cars with the motto 'We drive to fight cancer'. Every little bit helps!"
