This weekend, March 29th and 30th, GP2 racer Christian Bakkerud will swap the race track and his Super Nova GP2 car for a completely different experience. Together with other top International and National Danish racing drivers, for the second time, Christian will help to raise money for the UNICEF charity in Denmark through the Racing Festivalen. This is an annual event which for a nominal fee, allows spectators to experience the ride of their lives in a top sports car with a professional racing driver such as Tom Kristensen, Sir Stirling Moss, Jochen Mass, Johnny Herbert, Thorkild Thyrring and of course Christian.
On his way to Copenhagen Christian comments about the weekend ahead -- "I'm both delighted and honoured to be invited to take part in this prestigious and enjoyable event once again. As well as raising funds for UNICEF we have a great time driving around the track at Bella Center and interacting with the Danish public. It's a fun week-end I would thoroughly recommend anyone who is in or around the Copenhagen area to experience the show and to give generously to UNICEF. I can't wait to hook up with the rest of the racing fraternity and it will be a pleasant diversion for me before I travel to Bahrain for my next GP2 race."
The enormously successful event format has managed to collect a total of over 11 million Danish Kroner for UNICEF over the years and the aim is to add even more to the total this week-end. The event kicks off with a press conference in Copenhagen city with the cars and racing drivers present. His Royal Highness, Prince Joachim has been the official Patron of the Racing Festival since 2003 and his valued support has encouraged the participation of the Danish and international racing fraternity.
