(Ashland, KY - October 1, 2001) The first of two silent auctions for the Chris Francis Memorial Drivers and Crewman's Benevolence Fund is set for this weekend (October 5) at the Rock/Allegany County Speedway.

The silent auction at Allegany Speedway will be held on Friday, the day of the STARS Series "Big Kahuna" event. The auction area will be located near the souvenir area, and the winners of the auction will be announced before the feature event.

The benefit fund has been created at the request of the Francis Family and is being administered by Bill & Debbie Reed, founders and proponents of the Dirt Racing Outreach Ministry. "Its a benefit for drivers and crewmen. There is really not a whole lot to take care of them if someone does get hurt at the races or becomes real sick. At least now there will be something there to help out the families of drivers and crews who happen to get hurt or sick," states Steve Francis on the purpose of the memorial fund in his brother's memory.

Steve Francis wants to extend to all drivers, teams, fans, and media to participate in this effort. "We are hoping that everyone will get involved this weekend, and we are encouraging drivers and teams to donate anything that they may have for the auction."
