DETROIT, MI . . . Team Rahal and primary sponsor Shell in an effort to aid the flood victims of Houston, TX, have added the American Red Cross Flood Relief hotline to the Champ Car of CART points leader Kenny Brack and to the Miller Lite car of Max Papis for this weekend's Detroit Grand Prix.

Houston, the nation's fourth largest city, was pummeled by flooding from Tropical Storm Allison that has killed 20 and caused over a billion dollars in damage. Houston is the corporate headquarters of Shell USA and also hosts the Texaco Grand Prix of Houston in the CART FedEx Championship Series.

"The city of Houston has strong ties not only to Team Rahal but to the CART series," said Team Rahal owner Bobby Rahal. "When Shell approached us about doing something to support the victims of this disaster we thought about how we could reach the most people and raise awareness of the problems they are facing."

The Shell and Texaco alliance has spearheaded fund raising efforts for the flood relief. Donations can be made to the American Red Cross Flood Relief hot line at 1-888-HELP-NOW.

"I lived in Houston for a couple of years while I drove in the IRL and I love the town and the people and my heart goes out to them," said Brack. There were some big rainstorms when I was there but nothing like what the town is going through right now. I am glad that we have a way to help the people of Houston and draw attention to their plight."

"Through their generous coordinated efforts, Shell and Team Rahal are playing an important role in helping the American Red Cross provide lifesaving assistance to those devastated by this terrible storm," said Jennifer Dunlap, senior vice president of development at the American Red Cross. "Their support shows a true concern for their neighbors."

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. To help the victims of this and other disasters, contributions can be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund by calling 1-800-HELP NOW (1-800-435-7669) or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish). Internet users can make a secure online credit card contribution by visiting www.RedCross.org.
