SPEEDWAY, Ind. (Oct. 20, 2003) -- The most unique item - a DeLorean DMC-12 car -- ever put up for auction at a CARA Charities event will highlight the sixth annual "Runway Madness 6 - Under Top Big Top" extravaganza on Friday, Oct. 31, at the Ontario, Calif., Convention Center.

The 1983 DeLorean DMC-12 street car was donated by Cars 4 Causes and will be part of the event's auction in the "Under The Big Top" charity spectacular that opens the final weekend (Nov. 1-2) on the 2003 Champ Car World Series at California Speedway in Fontana, Calif.

An extraordinary piece for car collectors, the DeLorean DMC-12 has 28,485 original miles and is powered by a rear-mounted, 130-horsepower Peugeot-Renault-Volvo fuel-injected, 2.8-liter V-6 engine with a Bosch K Jetronic fuel-injection system.  The unique machine sits on a Lotus-designed, double-Y backbone-frame chassis and features independent four-wheel suspension.  The car has a wide, 62-inch track and the front wheels are an inch smaller in diameter to minimize oversteer and offer better overall handling.

"We are extremely excited to offer this type of item in our Runway Madness event," said Tara Munger Ragan, "Under The Big Top" committee chairman for CARA Charities.  "The DeLorean is a classic car and I know we have many people that would like to bid on it at Runway Madness.  It will be exciting for the audience to watch this kind of auction too."

The lines of the DMC-12 are sleek and clean and sets the car apart from many other collectable automobiles.  With designer Giugiaro's touch, the body is a high-quality brushed stainless steel (the paint can't chip or fade and it's impervious to rust) and the car is complimented with the wild gull-wing doors and features charcoal gray leather.

The DMC-12 also features a five-speed manual transmission, power steering, power brakes and power windows, tinted glass, AM/FM cassette stereo and Goodyear 195/60R14 tires.

There is slight damage to the bumper, steering wheel and driver's seat.  For further information on DeLorean DMC-12 and its parts, supplies and upgrades, click on www.usadmc.com.

The "Under The Big Top" theme will have continuous activities including a host of "Midway" style games and a casino with special celebrity players.  In addition, two types of auctions will be part of the affair with both a silent on-site auction and an online off-site auction.  An outstanding variety of items - from racing-related, one-of-a-kind collectables to retail products -- will be part of the charitable portion of the event that will be available to the guests.
