CARA Charities & CART Online Auction Ends Midnight Monday
Andretti Driving Suit Among New Items Available Via Internet Fund Raiser
Nov. 11, 2001- Indianapolis, Indiana - Although the 2001 CART FedEx Championship Series season concluded more than a week ago, the inaugural CARA Charities/CART Online Auction is still open for business until midnight (ET) Monday. Enthusiasts and supporters of open-wheel CART auto racing have little more than 24 hours to bid on several priceless racing mementos and authentic collectibles at http://cara.cmagic.com.
The online auction is part of the overall fund-raising efforts by CARA Charities and CART to support the New York Police and Firefighter's Widows and Children's Benefit Fund. These efforts also included the fourth annual Runway Madness "Red, White & Blue Celebration" Super Party that was held two Fridays ago at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, Calif. Although several items were available only through Runway Madness, dozens of collectibles - including some recent additions - are still available via the online auction site. Among the new additions is CART driving star Michael Andretti's racing suit and gloves from this past September's Memorial 500 race in Lausitz, Germany.
The online auction site, a first for CARA Charities and CART, was created and hosted by Seventh Gear.com and their partners Cinemagic. Once again, the deadline for bidding on all items is Monday, November 12 at Midnight (ET).
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year, CARA Charities was founded in 1981 to serve the community through charitable work and promote the friendship of all those involved in the motorsports family. Over $3.25 million dollars has been distributed to numerous racing and community organizations, including the nationally recognized and award-winning "Buckle Up Baby" program that is a partnership between CARA Charities and the Bridgestone/Firestone Trust. In addition to the CARA Shirley Bettenhausen Children's Fund, other recipient charities include CART Ministries, San Bernardino Children's Fund, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Foote Memorial Hospital, International Vehicular Injury Research Center, California Highway Patrol "Kids" Program, Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, Championship Drivers Association Benevolent Fund, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer and Valley View Medical Center.
