Volkswagen all set for Brazilian debut with Race Touareg 2
For the two Volkswagen factory pairings, Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz (RSA/D) and Mark Miller/Ralph Pitchford (USA/RSA), the Rally dos Sertões will start next Tuesday, 17 June, with the first spectator stage in Goiânia in Central Brazil. For both the Race Touareg 2 with their 280-hp TDI diesel engines and its crews, the 10-day rally, which covers a distance of over 4,500 kilometres through Brazil to Natal on the Atlantic coast, is new territory. The Volkswagen team arrived in Brazil during mid-week and already had their first PR commitments in close cooperation with Volkswagen do Brasil.

Ups and downs for Vanthoor at Hockenheim - Rahel Frey sets fastest lap
The Belgian Laurens Vanthoor experienced a mixed weekend at rounds seven and eight of the ATS Formula 3 Cup at Hockenheim. In qualifying, the young Belgian had secured the first pole position for himself and for Volkswagen in the junior series. But in the first race Vanthoor, on the first lap, damaged the front wing of his Dallara F307 Volkswagen and later retired after a collision. In the second race the driver of the Dutch Van Amersfoort Racing team recovered to seventh place from 20th on the grid in adverse weather conditions, thus scoring points. His team-mate Rahel Frey finished the two races in eleventh and 18th place, but drove the fastest race lap in the second race, which earned her a championship point.
24 Hours of Le Mans
Podium position for Congfu Cheng
Volkswagen driver Congfu Cheng was successful at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 23-year-old, who contests the Formula 3 Euro Series for Volkswagen, was the first Chinese ever to race in the sports car classic. Together with his team-mates Mathieu Lahaye (F) and Pierre Ragues (F), he clinched third place in the LMP2 class with a Pescarolo-Judd straight away.
Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship (JTCC)
Volkswagen drivers strengthen championship lead
With a victory and a second place at the fourth race weekend of the Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship (JTCC) in Goteborg, Volkswagen driver Alexander Graff extended his lead of the standings. In qualifying, Graff in his Golf had already clinched the pole position at the debut race on the city street circuit in the harbour area of Sweden's second-biggest city. With places five and eight, Volkswagen brand colleage Marcus Fluch defended his second place overall.
Dutch Volkswagen Endurance the Netherlands
Exploit for Kamphues, den Boer and Bergmans
Rob Kamphues, Jeroen den Boer and Rob Bergmans won the Dutch Volkswagen Endurance Cup's third round of the season at Zandvoort. The trio won the three-hour race on the famous dune circuit, which was divided into three one-hour segments, ahead of Langeveld/Bouwhuis/Rijsdijk and Verwoerd/De Jong/Den Dekker. A total of 45 vehicles contested the race, and all of them finished.
