Volkswagen drivers Giniel de Villiers and Mark Miller start in Brazil
Barely two months after Carlos Sainz's (E) victory at the Central Europe Rally in Hungary and Romania the next rally round is approaching for Volkswagen. The Volkswagen factory duos, Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz (RSA/D) and Mark Miller/Ralph Pitchford (USA/RSA), will contest the Rallye dos Sertoes in Brazil (17 - 28 June) with two Race Touareg vehicles. The route covers ten legs - two of which are cross-country stages - from Goiânia in the extreme South West of Brazil across the South American country to Natal on the Atlantic coast.
24-Hour Race at the Nurburgring
Preparations completed: five days to go until the Scirocco's racing debut
With a second test on the Nurburgring-Nordschleife, Volkswagen completed its preparations for the 24-Hour Race. Hans-Joachim Stuck (A) and Jimmy Johansson (S) took turns at the wheel of the 325-hp Scirocco. At the endurance classic, which starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Volkswagen fields three Racing Scirocco vehicles, driven by a mix of well-known racers, talented youngsters and journalists.
ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup
Victories for Qualmann and Rambow
Rounds four and five of the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz ended with victories clinched by the Dane Thor Qualmann and the German Alexander Rambow. After finishing the races in second and tenth places, respectively, the South African Shane Williams has defended his lead of the standings with a two-point advantage over Rambow and the Swede Andreas Simonsen.

Rene Rast extends Cup lead
Volkswagen Junior Rene Rast at the fourth race of the Porsche Carrera Cup season at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz extended his lead of the standings to eight points. The 21-year-old German from Steyerberg, the champion of the 2005 ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup, started from pole position and saw the chequered flag as the runner-up, defeated by the winner by merely a narrow margin.
SEAT Leon Supercopa
Podium place for Jimmy Johansson
On the third race weekend of the SEAT Leon Supercopa Volkswagen Junior Jimmy Johansson again clinched a podium position. The Swede, the 2006 champion of the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup, finished the second race at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz in third place. In the championship, he is ranking in fifth place after six races.
Jetta TDI Cup USA
David Jurca triumphs at international Jetti TDI Cup USA debut
In extremely difficult conditions, with rain setting in, 22-year-old David Jurca from Washington won the second round of the Jetta TDI Cup at Mosport, Canada. At the first foreign race of the American touring car school, local hero Chris Holman, with a 2.632-second gap to Jimmy Underhill (Denver), finished as the runner-up. The 30-minute sprint race was contested by 29 juniors aged 16 to 26.
Gusswerk Kart Grand Prix Salzburg
Volkswagen team with strong performance
At the first Kart Grand Prix at the Salzburg Bell Foundry the Volkswagen team clinched a strong second position among 21 teams: after the five-hour racing distance, the gap to the winning team was merely seven seconds. The Volkswagen line-up was led by motorsport director Kris Nissen, designer Helmut Schmid and the Formula 3 drivers Jens Klingmann and Maximilian Gotz. The latter had clinched the pole position for the Volkswagen team.
