Lopez Starts Again from Tunisia
THE CROSS COUNTRY RALLY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CONTINUES IN TUNISIA WITH ITS SECOND LEG. 1800 KILOMETERS TO COVER IN SIX STAGES, STARTING IN TUNIS TO FINISH IN DOUZ. TEAM GIOFIL APRILIA RACING WILL BE REPRESENTED BY THE CHILEAN RIDER FRANCISCO LOPEZ, WHO WILL LOOK FOR A BETTER CHANCE THAN IN THE LAST RACE AT THE UAE.
The count back to the second date of the Cross Country Rally World Championship has started. The rally of Tunisia will take place from the 1st to the 7th. The race organized by NPO will officially start on Saturday at 4.30pm, with a Super Special on the beach of Gammarth-La Marca, which will serve to establish the starting order for the first stage.
Then, 1800 kilometers will be covered in six days, and 1300 of it are the selective sections. The trace is rather short, but it will not be easy due to the nature of the Tunisian ground, especially in the dunes of the Grand Erg Oriental that characterized the most important part of the rally.
There will be four straight stages and two loops, around Nekrif and the Oasis of Ksar Ghilane respectively, while the 2010 edition of Tunisia0x00b4s Rally will finish at Douz at the so-called "door of the desert" on May 7th.
After the disappointment in Abu Dhabi, Francisco L0x00f3pez is strongly motivated to achieve a good result in Tunisia. Its Aprilia RXV 4.5 has benefitted from some improvements on the electronic ignition and the ergonomics of the tanks and an electronic technician from Aprilia Racing will allow developing mappings after each stage, to acquire the most information possible.
During his stay in Italy, Lopez has carried out a good training: arena, bicycle, swimming and of course, the bike has been his main activity in the last month in order to prepare his participation in this next race in Tunisia.
"Chaleco" will be once more facing Marc Coma as his main adversary, with whom he has engaged an exciting duel in the UAE. Together with the Spaniard, they will be holding David Casteu, James West and the Polish trio: Przygonski, Czachor and Dabrowski.
