BFGoodrich gears up for Australasian Safari

BFGoodrich Tires is is gearing up for the battle of speed and excitement as the official tyre sponsor for the 2008 Australasian Safari, which crosses the extremes of the Western Australian outback in August.

The Australasian Safari is the king of off-road races in Australia. Besides navigating hundreds of kilometres of treacherous terrain at a white-knuckle pace, off-road competitors also have to overcome logistical conundrums, wandering livestock and some of Australia's toughest outback.

As the official tyre sponsor for this year's event, BFGoodrich Tires Australia sees their involvement as further enhancing their commitment that "winning motorsport events showcases the quality of our tyres".

Adam Storey, Marketing Manager of BFGoodrich Tires Australia, says that the BFGoodrich brand is built around rallying and rally raid events, such as the Australasian Safari.

"These disciplines correspond perfectly with the spirit of the brand. Using motorsports as a proving ground for more than 30 years, BFGoodrich Tires is involved in every type of racing, including oval, sports car, drifting, drag, desert, dirt, rally (Dakar and WRC) and extreme rock-crawling," Storey explains.

"BFGoodrich Tires combines technological expertise with vast motorsports experience, delivering a high performance tyre for every type of vehicle.

"Competition forms part of our long term strategy, which is to develop a clear image in the mind of the public: "If BFGoodrich wins the Australasian Safari, it is because it produces good tyres for extreme conditions, so they'd be good enough for me".

BFGoodrich extensively uses their motorsport involvement in their advertising, and this will be the case as the Australasian Safari gets closer. As a household name in tyres, involvement in the Safari can only enhance that reputation.

The proven performance of the tyres has a direct result on the quality of the tyres the general public buys, as witnessed by the tyres now available for all four-wheel drive vehicles.

"BFGoodrich has a very strong image regarding 4x4 tyres and is one of the major players in this field," Storey adds. "It already enjoys a strong reputation in Australia, thanks notably to core product offer in the 4X4 segment, seen as a benchmark for performance. Our objective is to continue developing brand awareness.

"BFGoodrich Tires combines technological expertise with vast motorsports experience, delivering a high performance tyre for every type of vehicle."

Competitors in this year's event, who face over 3000km of competitive driving over the seven days of the event, will be thankful for the ruggedness and durability of BFGoodrich Tires.

The 2008 Australasian Safari starts in Kalgoorlie on Saturday, August 23. After leaving the gold mining town it visits Sandstone, Meekatharra, Mt Margaret, Mt Magnet and Geraldton, before finishing in Perth on Saturday, August 30.
