CTCC - Tagliani ends winless streak at Trois-Rivières
Aug 14, 2016, 6:37 PM

Alex Tagliani recorded his first win at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières since 1998, racing in the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) this weekend.

The Lachenaie native drove his Ford Mustang to victory in both the Grand Touring (GT) class and overall classifications, Friday night and Saturday afternoon. He had not won at the GP3R since his Formula Atlantic days. Eric Hochgeschurz had to settle for second in both races. But the Carleton Place driver stretched his lead atop the Super Touring standings.

Breaking in a new BMW M3, local hero Marc-Antoine Camirand could not keep up with Tagliani. But a third-place finish Friday night in the GT class allowed him to match Jocelyn Hébert’s record of 20 podiums in Trois-Rivières. "I had electric issues on top of it, so it’s that much more rewarding!", a pleased Camirand told Le Nouvelliste newspaper.
