STRONG SATURDAY FOR D'ALBERTO AT QUEENSLAND RACEWAY

Tony D'Alberto had a strong start to Round 4 of the 2007 Fujitsu V8 Supercar at Queensland Raceway after qualifying second and then finishing third in the opening race.

Qualifying second put D'Alberto right next to his closest Series rival, Michael Caruso on the grid and in a position to add to his series points lead.

After a strong start to the race D'Alberto went with leader Caruso as they broke away from the main pack, delivering a series of fast lap times which gave the pair a handy buffer.

A mid-race safety car period brought the field together as safety crew cleared an incident. After the restart D'Alberto's car struggled to stay with Caruso and eventually Shannon O'Brien was able to slip by in the closing laps leaving D'Alberto in third.

"We had basically the same set-up from qualifying," Tony said.

"It just didn't keep its speed over the course of the race and overheated the tyres.

"Early on it was great but it has now shown us exactly what we need to change in order to challenge in tomorrow morning's race."

It was important to finish inside the top three today, it gave me good points and a real opportunity to be on the podium at the end of the weekend.

Sunday's racing consists of a reverse-top-ten race at 9.30am and the final race at 4.15pm.
