THE NEXT STEP FOR MCNALLY AT ORAN PARK

After the excitement and nerves of his first V8 Supercar meeting three weeks ago at Queensland Raceway, Mark McNally is looking forward to the next challenge in his V8 Supercar career -- Oran Park -- this weekend.

The young West Australian's debut meeting was highlighted by a top-three finish in the reverse-grid race where he made up a massive 14 places in a drive most recognised as "far more mature than his experience would suggest".

This weekend at Oran Park will be a new challenge for Mark as he has only driven a Formula Ford there previously.

"I can't wait to get back in the car and race," Mark said.

"It was good to get my first meeting out of the way and now I am looking forward to the challenge that Oran Park provides.

"It is quite a technical track and I am sure that driving a bulky, powerful V8 Supercar around it will be a completely different ball-game to the Formula Ford I have driven there previously."

This weekend the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series will race at Oran Park for the first time. To Mark's advantage there are not many V8 Supercar teams that use Oran Park as a test track, unlike Queensland Raceway which is used by many teams in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series.

"It will be more of a level playing field at Oran Park because most of the teams and drivers have little experience there.

"I am a lot more comfortable under racing conditions now and know the areas that I need to build on to get more speed from the car," he said.

"If I can improve on my performance and results from Queensland I will be happy."

Practice is on Friday, with Qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, and Race 2 and 3 on Sunday.
