McNALLY FIGHTS BACK TO CLAIM 11TH FROM THE BACK
Mark McNally has fought his way from the back of the pack to finish 11th in the final race of the 2007 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series at Adelaide's Clipsal 500 today.
After electrical problems left Mark stranded and unable to start before yesterday's race he was relegated to 29th grid position for the start of today's 24-lap race.
"It was just one of those things," Mark said.
"I was really disappointed not to be able to start yesterday's race but there is nothing we could do about it - there was no warning of the problem beforehand."
With the focus on today's race Mark didn't waist any time in forging his way up the field, climbing six places in the first two laps.
He then settled into the race and went on to gain another 12 places to finish 11th.
"The car felt quite good today, the set-up worked well for the whole race," Mark said.
"I was gaining on the guys in front of me throughout the race and a few more laps would have got me inside the top ten.
"Another safety car period would have been nice because I had the pace but the field got stretched out a fair bit.
"Obviously, I would have preferred to have been further up the grid at the start but I am happy with the way the race panned out in the end.
Mark will now focus on testing for Round 2 of the Series.
"We will go away and do some more testing to get the car a little better for the next round at Wakefield Park.
"Thanks to all my sponsors and especially to those that came to Adelaide to watch this weekend," he said.
Mark is placed 15th in the Series points with 9 points. A new points system was introduced for 2007 with only the top 15 drivers in each race scoring points.
This weekend's racing will be telecast on Channel 7 on Saturday 10 March from 11.30am -- 12.30pm.
Mark's next race, Round 2 of the 2007 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series is at Goulburn's Wakefield Park on 30 May- 1 April.
