RDA Rotors Commodore Cup Series - Cooper back in front after hectic Phillip Island round.

Misfortune for series leaders Danny Richert and Stephen White, and a solid performance from Ashley Cooper saw Cooper regain the lead in the 2005 RDA Rotors Commodore Cup at Phillip Island today.

Marcus Zukanovic took pole ahead of White, Richert, Cooper, Steven Carless, Geoff Emery, Nick Parker and Michael Graham. Stephen White started from pit-lane with an oil leak problem and limped around to earn some points.

A start line crash in the damp conditions saw Carless, Graham and Parker sidelined and bought out the Safety Car for the first 3 laps. Zukanovic lead the field away but had to serve a drive through penalty for a re-start infringement. Cooper took the race 1 win from Emery, Richert and Brett Holdsworth.

Richert failed to make the start of race 2 after being called to the pits with a serious oil leak on the warm up lap.

The race 2 start was a hectic affair, particularly through turn 1 and into Honda Corner with Emery emerging from Siberia ahead of Holdsworth, Gittus and Zukanovic. Gittus soon departed into the sand-pit at the hayshed with a broken steering arm courtesy of a clash with Cooper exiting Honda.

Michael Graham had a big lose over Lukey Heights on lap 4, with Zukanovic moving ahead of Emery and Cooper to claim the race win. Cooper won the round by one point from Emery, with Zukanovic third for the weekend.

Points after round 3 - Cooper 337, Holdsworth 317, Richert 301, White 296, Emery 284
