Father & Son Champions Pair up for Bathurst 12 Hour

2009 National Champions, David and Des Wall are set to join forces in the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro on the 12 -- 14 February 2010.

In their first race meeting since they became Australia's first Father and Son combination to take out their respective National motorsport championships in the same year, the Wall duo will chase victory in the challenging 12-hour endurance race.

David and Des will again be joined by Trevor Symonds and it will be a case of third time lucky for the team at Alan East Motorsport. The team will compete in the Mitsubishi Evo IX GSR that they raced to 4th outright last year. In 2008 the team started on pole position and finished 5th outright and 3rd in class.

This year the team will be running number 38 on their Evo IX, the same number David ran in last year's Australian GT Championship and Des ran in the Kerrick Sports Sedans.

David's most recent outing at Bathurst saw him complete double duties in the Australian GT Championship and with the Wilson Security Racing V8 Supercar team. David dominated the GT round, qualifying 2nd and winning both races.

"I can't wait to get back out on the mountain! It is a great track for endurance racing and I am pleased to have another opportunity to fight for the win," David said.

"We may not have the performance of the newer cars, but we are confident that over the 12 hours we should be able to compete with them.

"Our aim is to stay on the lead lap and then we will hopefully be in a position to fight for a podium finish in the closing stages of the race.

"As with all endurance races, our biggest challenge is ensuring that the car perform well and we stay out of trouble for the whole 12 hours."

The team will be entered in class A, which is for High Performance (All Wheel Drive) vehicles.

Practice 1 gets under way at 9am on Friday 12 February, with the main race starting at 6:30am on Sunday morning.
