Quinn encounters clutch problems as safety car periods bookend the hour

Leading contender Klark Quinn has encountered clutch problems aboard the VIP Pet Foods Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX during hour three of the WPS Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro.

After charging from the rear of the field, due to being forced to start from pit lane, Quinn had charged up to third spot before the clutch pedal 'went to the floor' midway through the hour on lap 50 of the race.

Quinn pitted to hand over the driving duties to his co-driver Grant Denyer while allowing the team to inspect the clutch difficulties which ended in them pushing the car into the garage to complete repairs. Denyer returned to the circuit on lap 55, in 34th position - six laps down on the leader Tony Longhurst aboard the #1 Swirk Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.

The hour ended just as it began, under safety car conditions. The latest safety car period was due to Gerard Keogh stopping on the circuit after his car sustained damage when he spun going through the cutting.

At the restart Longhurst leads ahead of Stuart Kostera and Des Wall.

The leaders have completed 59 laps.
