FRANK GARDNER DINNER A RESOUNDING SUCCESS
Last Thursday 13th March, The Australian Motor Sport Foundation (AMSF) hosted a dinner at the prestigious Park Hyatt Melbourne to celebrate the colourful career of Frank Gardner OAM. Frank, the guest of honour, was joined by over 300 guests as well as a number of leading motor sport personalities including Mark Webber and Sir Jackie Stewart.
Bill Woods was Master of Ceremonies and made the most of the assembly of renowned motor racing stars with an on-stage "Parkinson" style interview. In a never-to-be-repeated exchange, Bill Woods engaged Mark Webber, Sir Jackie Stewart, Tim Schenken, Vern Schuppan and guest of honour Frank Gardner in an enthralling discussion, captivating the audience and leaving all in stitches of laughter.
"The event was without doubt one of the very best I have ever attended and I was thrilled to be part of it" said guest of honour Frank Gardner.
"I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the AMSF for their efforts in putting on this splendid dinner -- as far as I am concerned it was a resounding success and every one that I spoke to had a great time" enthused Gardner.
Apart from honouring Frank Gardner, the event was also about raising funds for the AMSF. The AMSF is a not-for-profit body set up to nurture and support our young Australian motor sport stars of the future. The AMSF aims to ensure that Australia's young drivers and other motor sport personnel are assisted in every way possible to make them, and Australia, a dominant force in the international motor sport arena.
"We are pleased with the outcome at all levels and the feedback has been extremely positive" said AMSF General Manager Quentin Crombie.
"Not only are these types of functions important to help build the profile of the AMSF, it is also a great fund raising opportunity -- the funds raised from this function will go to support the AMSF in its quest to fulfil its mission, in particular, to support our young drivers."
Crombie concluded by saying "We are very grateful to Frank Gardner, who helped to make the night such a great success. The AMSF would also like to sincerely thank our event sponsor Talent2 as well as Events Australia, Helping Hand Group, Fleetwood Print Group, Bill Woods, the Leanne Crawford Band, the numerous organisations who supplied items for the competition and auction, and last but certainly not least, the volunteers who generously gave their time."
