Shedden takes double, Jackson a solo at rain soaked Thruxton

Despite starting race 1 of the day in 18th position, Honda Yuasa Racing driver Gordon Shedden has taken a double victory in rounds 8 and 9 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton. Redstone Racing’s Mat Jackson took victory in round 7; however the main winner was the Great British weather as it played havoc on the day affecting all 3 races.

MG KX Momentum Racing’s Jason Plato continues to lead the championship by just 4 points from Shedden after he took a pair of podiums and a 4th. Elsewhere Thruxton BTCC rookie Dave Newsham took a career best 2nd place in round 7 for ES Racing while Dynojet’s Frank Wrathall scored his first podium of the year in race 3. There was less to cheer about however for round 7 pole sitter Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan, after he spun at the opening corner in the day’s first race seriously damaging his weekend after his good work from qualifying.

For a full report of the day’s action be sure to return to in the next 24hrs with full images from the weekend should be online within the next 48hrs.
