Airwaves BMW driver Jonny Adam scorched his way on to the third row of the grid in qualifying for the HiQ MSA Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park.
The young Scot posted the fifth-quickest time of the session in blazing hot conditions, and was the second-fastest of the BMW runners. The BRDC Superstar had been consistently quick in free practice earlier in the day, before translating that pace into an excellent run early in the qualifying session. He will line up for the first race of the day on Sunday with reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi alongside him on the grid, giving him a chance to test himself against the best in the field into the first corner.
Team-mate Rob Collard will start ninth on the grid after a slightly frustrating outing in qualifying. The Hampshireman came to Oulton Park full of confidence after his win at Donington, however he struggled with tyre issues during his hot laps and had to settle for a slot on row five. He will have title rival Matt Neal starting beside him, and both men will be eager to move quickly up the field in race one when the lights go green.
The hugely competitive nature of the HiQ MSA Touring Car Championship was underlined by the fact that in the field of 21 competitors the top 12 on the grid were separated by less than one second in qualifying.
Six hours of action from Britain's premier racing series will be broadcast from Oulton Park on ITV4 starting at 12pm on Sunday.

"That was a very competitive qualifying session, so to have both of our drivers in the top ten is a good result. Jonny has done really well and showed once again he is getting quicker all the time as he learns more about the 320si. Rob was a bit unlucky in that session but he's been racing so well this year I'm sure he will be right in the mix come the first race. This is a fantastic track and I think our cars will be quick here in race trim, so I'm looking forward to keeping up our good form and chasing more big results tomorrow."

"I'm a little disappointed with my qualifying session, ninth is not where I wanted to be. The car felt really good in practice and after my first run I think I was sitting about fourth. However, on my next run I locked up into a corner early on and flat-spotted the tyres, so I had to come in for another change. Unfortunately it appears that one of the tyres that went on then had a slight puncture and was gradually losing pressure. That made the car very difficult to drive and I just couldn't get a good balance. I'm still in the top ten though and I've done very well off the line in nearly every race this year, so I'll aim to pick up few places as quickly as possible and just try and score a strong result in race one to set me up for the rest of the day."

"I'm pretty pleased with how that session went for me. It's my best qualifying position of the season so far and it's nice to make a bit of progress. The car felt pretty good out there and I managed to post some really good times early in the session. I'm pleased to be ahead of all three of the Vauxhalls and I think that bodes well for our race pace tomorrow. It's quite tight going into corner one here at Oulton, but if I can get off the line well it will give me a great chance to go for the podium. My aim for this weekend is just to stay out of trouble and bag plenty of points."
