Team PSP first test proves successful

The new British Touring Car challenger from Team Petronas Syntium Proton (Team PSP) tested successfully for the first time over the weekend of Saturday 23 February at Magny Cours, France.

Team PSP's driver David Leslie said: "We ran about 50 laps on the Saturday and similar on the Sunday, with no problems to speak of. The car ran well and responded to setup changes. It was a very positive first test."

The second car was completed on schedule on Monday 25 February and is en route to Spain. Both Team PSP cars are expected to begin testing at the Guadix circuit in Andalucia for ten days from Wednesday 27 February.

David Wong, Team Principal, Team PSP said: "The team's gelling nicely -- we're moving up the BTCC learning curve for sure."

Team PSP is the UK arm of Team Petronas (www.teampetronas.com), which has already notched up significant championship successes in saloon racing elsewhere in the world with over 80 wins in Malaysian and Asian-based saloon events to its credit.

For its first foray into the British Touring Car Championship, arguably the premier touring car championship in the world, Team Petronas is entering two Petronas-backed Proton Impians in the BTC Manufacturer's Championship, adding a new marque to the BTC grid. The BTC team, known as Team Petronas Syntium Proton and led by Team Principal David Wong, is based in Dereham, Norfolk.
