MATTEO BOBBI READY TO WIN AT SPA
July - the 25th 2006. A long and fascinating challenge on one of the most difficult tracks in the world. This is in essence the 24h of Spa-Francorchamps, fourth round of the FIA GT world championship.
Matteo Bobbi has prepared with the usual care this very special occasion. In fact, an intensive athletic training will be needed to face the insidious up-downs characteristic of the legendary belgian track. Stephane Ortelli, former winner of the 2006 edition of the 1000km of Spa, will join Bobbi and Melo in a team whose unique aim is the victory, one of the very few trophies still missing in the milanese champion's showcase.
Two free practice sessions of ninety minutes are scheduled on thursday, the first one starting at 10.45 and the second one at 15.30. The first qualifying session of ninety minutes will begin at 20.30 in the evening, while the second one will follow at 22. On friday, the green flag for the third qualifying session of forty-five minutes will be shown at 11.45. Finally, the saturday fifteen minutes of warm-up will begin at 9.35 while at 16 the awaited 58th 24h of Spa-Francorchamps will take place.
"Spa is one of the key events of the whole season, where one can obtain heavy points for the final classification. We will have 38Kg ballast that will have a fairly important impact on our lap performance, especially in a technical circuit like Spa. A good lap-pace will be crucial for the overall performance. Our team is one of the most competitive: I already scored a third place in the past, this year my target will be the highest position on the podium."
