Aston Martin Racing's DBR9s Battle On

Aston Martin Racing's two DBR9s were pressing ahead with their attempts to regain lost ground as the 2005 Proximus 24 Hours of Spa entered the final stages with car number 29 in sixth place and car 28 just behind in seventh.

Both DBR9s continued their brave comebacks, lapping consistently at two seconds quicker than the rest of the field and making some ground before rain once more descended on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit as the race approached the 21-hour mark.

With both cars having suffered from a time consuming pedal box issue earlier in the race, it was Peter Kox in car 29 and David Brabham in car 28 that led the comeback attempt. Darren Turner later replaced Brabham, with Marc Goossens stepping in for Kox.

After completing his stint, Peter Kox said: "The circumstances were very difficult - it rained then stopped and it wasn't raining on the whole track. Perhaps we didn't make the best call with the intermediate tyres but we quickly rectified this and went onto slicks and found good pace."

The 24 Hours of Spa concludes today at 4pm (GMT+1).
