Trackspeed Racing Confirm Line Up For The FIA GT2 and GT3 Classes

Ambitious Trackspeed Racing To Run Three Porsches Across Two FIA Championships.

Trackspeed Racing have never been a team to shy away from a challenge and it is no better illustrated than by their 2008 programme which sees them contest both the FIA GT3 European Championship and the FIA GT Championship.

With both series starting this weekend at Trackspeed's home race, Silverstone, it will be an exceptionally busy baptism for the Surrey based team. Having won the British GTC Championship in 2006 and competing in the 2007 FIA GT3 European Championship, this is very much a natural progression for the ambitious team. Whilst their Porsches struggled in 2007, the team stuck with Porsche ordering two brand new Porsche GT3 Cup S cars and a new Porsche RSR. The promise of more competitive Porsches in 2008 appears well founded. After testing, and entering a new GT3 in the British GT Championship's opening rounds, the Porsche factory has indeed fulfilled its promise of improved performance and Trackspeed head into the Championships in confident mood.

In the FIA GT3 European Championship David Ashburn will team up with Richard Williams, who secured the Porsche Manufacturer's Cup for Trackspeed in the 2007 Championship. The pairing have already contested the two opening rounds of the 2008 British GT Championship with great promise.

In the second car, Trackspeed welcome Andrew Shelley and Phil Nuttall. Andrew has several years of Porsche experience having contested the Carrera Cup whilst Phil has raced the Porsche on individual occasions having previously contested the Pirelli Maranello Ferrari Challenge. The pair raced for Trackspeed in the 2007 British GT 2 Hour race taking a well deserved 2nd place in the GTC class and we are sure they will prove equally as industrious in FIA GT3 Championship.

In the FIA GT Championship David Ashburn and Richard Williams pair up once more and will contest the GT2 class in the enticing new Porsche RSR. The Trackspeed GT2 entry also sees them form a new partnership with Pirelli as tyre suppliers. Trackspeed look forward to working with Pirelli and the opening round at Silverstone is set to answer many questions this exciting new pairing raises.

In true Trackspeed spirit Richard says "Yes, we've got a lot of work on our hands but I think that gives us an opportunity to maximise the weekend for both David and myself - lots of circuit time, and hopefully lots of fun".
