SILVERSTONE: DETERMINATION MARKS PAOLO RUBERTI'S EVE

Just a few days are left before the Silverstone weekend, first round of the FIA GT 2009.

The British track, located in Northamptonshire, was born as army airfield, called RAF Silverstone in 1943; its configuration was the standard one for all British airfields of the time of the Second World War: three runways disposed as a triangle. After the war, the first races used the three runways as track, they were connected by three corners marked by hay bales. A very fast track was born. On this very track, on the 13 May 1950, the first Formula One race was held and the British Formula One Grand Prix is still held at Silverstone. The track, in it biggest configuration, is 5.141km long and is composed by 17 corners. The current record lap belongs to Michael Schumacher (2004, Ferrari F.1, 1:18.739).

Paolo Ruberti, FIA GT2 2008 vice-champion, will be this weekend behind the wheel of the number 77 Ferrari F430 GT2 belonging to BMS - Scuderia Italia, that will be equipped with Michelin tyres. Matteo Malucelli will be his team mate and the target is the title that was just missed last year: "2008 has been a season full of satisfactions whereby we got important results that took us very close to the title" commented the driver from Verona. "This year our objective is unavoidably more ambitious: a lot of teams seem to be able to fight for the final victory and the battle announces to be tough, but we will definitely not step aside".
