SAN LUIS CROWNS PAOLO RUBERTI VICE-CHAMPION OF THE WORLD

23/11/2008 - After the victory in the 24h of Spa and the second place in the 24h of Le Mans, the 2008 finished with the title of FIA GT world vice-champion of class GT2 for Paolo Ruberti.

The last race, held today at the Argentine track of San Luis, saw the F430 Ferrari of the Veronese driver sixth under the chequered flag. The podium vanished due to a drive through caused by touching the white line delimiting pit entry.

The final drivers' classification crowns champion the crew composed by Toni Vilander and Gianmaria Bruni (AF Corse) at 93 points, followed by Paolo Ruberti and Matteo Malucelli (BMS Scuderia Italia) at 60.5, first among cars with Pirelli tyres.

Paolo Ruberti:

'The title of vice-champion in a highly competitive championship like FIA GT brings a great satisfaction. We obtained points in all the races and we harvested an historic victory at Spa, a second place and three third. By considering also the podium at Le Mans, I realize that this season has been a very positive, thanks to the crucial help of all the men of the team and, obviously, to my crew-mate. I would like to send them all my best thank you for always working with great enthusiasm and maximum professionalism.'
