German sports car pilot Stefan Mucke without the aimed points at the 7th round of the GT1 World Championship - On the Algarve track on position 11 on Sunday
Berlin/Portimão (rol/ot) Disappointment instead of points and podium for German sports car pilot Stefan Mucke last Sunday night (19th of September) after the 7th round of the FIA GT1 World Championship last weekend with the runs 13 and 14 on the Algarve race track at Portugal. The Aston Martin works driver from Berlin that shared the cockpit of the DBR9 for the Team Young Driver AMR (Paderborn/Copenhagen) with the former Formula 1 pilot Pedro Lamy (Portugal) has been on position eleven on Sunday at the one hour Championship Race on the track near Portimão. The day before the Duo has been on position 15 at the Qualifying Race.
^AThat is very disappointing, because we have been really fast on track. On Saturday we only had 20 seconds time deficit to position 4 after we first lost 39 seconds at an additional pit stop at the beginning", explained the 28 year old. At Pedro Lamy's first lap the hood released and the Portuguese had to drive into the pit. At this point the race has already been over for the Duo, even right before it had started. On Sunday Stefan Mucke started the run with a furious catch up race from position 15 and assigned the Aston Martin racer to his team colleague on position six. After a few fast laps and fights about positions in a group Pedro Lamy got problems with the tyres and after a spin-out he fell back to position eleven.
Winners of the races at Portugal have been Michael Krumm and Peter Dumbreck (Germany/Great Britain) in the Nissan GT-R (Saturday) and Michael Bartels/Andrea Bertolini (Germany/Italy) in the Maserati MC12. The 8th season event of the GT1 World is scheduled from 22nd to 24th of October at Navarra (Spain) and at the end of November there will be the double season finale at South America at Brasil and Argentina.
