Third consecutive success for Matteo Bobbi.
Team- mates Matteo Bobbi and Thomas Biagi bring home from the Sicilian race track in Pergusa, a victory that was decided by arbitration. Bobbi's team-mates Gollin and Cappellari ended the race in the lead but were disqualified due to an irregularity in their airbox.
Therefore, the victory was handed over to Bobbi and Biagi who were in second place. This is their third consecutive win regardless of the 80 kg of excess weight that the regulations had imposed on them after their first two races.
The team had decided that Biagi would have the priority since he had the best time during the qualification session. Thus, Thomas competed during the first and third hours of the race.
"It was a positive weekend in Pergusa. Without a doubt, I have to emphasize the great work done on Friday during the free practice session. The understanding between the team and I keeps getting better from race to race and this good feeling has allowed us to work well together and to find a good set up for the car.
"Therefore, we managed to race with a well balanced car during the qualifications .Unfortunately, Thomas who this time around had the priority, found a lot of traffic on the track during the best laps and couldn't inherit anything other than the sixth place During the race, I found the right concentration and managed to do my best during the second hour.
"When Thomas handed the car over to me in sixth place, I had the strength to overtake my adversaries one after another, until I reached the first place. Regrettably, a problem with the limiter during the pit stop between the second and third hour, made us lose our first place. I am however satisfied considering the fact that we had the 80 kg of excess weight that was imposed on us by the regulations.
"In Brno, they will be 100 kg! We will therefore tackle the next race with full points and this is something I could have never imagined. Being the leader doesn't put me at ease, it actually stimulates me to work harder and to get to know the car better."
